South West Skills Academy praise Prepare to Achieve for their simple approach to End-Point Assessment

Apprenticeship Co-ordinator at South West Skills Academy, Craig Burley, was relieved after a smooth transition over to the apprenticeship standards, and the straight forward approach to end-point assessment of Prepare to Achieve.

South West Skills Academy is an independent training provider who specialise in health and social care around Cornwall. After looking in to what other end-point assessment organisations required from themselves, their employers and apprentices, they found that Prepare to Achieve offered more support, at a better price.

Talking of his experiences with Prepare to Achieve Craig said,

“Prepare to Achieve had much simpler processes in place and the cost of EPA was less than other companies.

“The cost that was saved on End-Point Assessment could be utilised in other areas, for example, more contact time with tutors.”

A key performance indicator that Craig and his team are keen to track, is the time it takes for learners to go through Gateway, and of course, their success rates. Craig went on to say,

“We started working with Prepare to Achieve around September time last year and had our first learner go through Gateway and complete their End-Point assessment in December 2018.

“The results to date with Prepare to Achieve have been positive, but beyond the assessment they are also a really helpful company who are always there to offer support and guidance when we need it. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to more employers in the future, we find them easy to work with.”

Talking of their work so far with the apprentices at South West Skills Academy, Lee Evans, CEO of Prepare to Achieve said;

“We have thoroughly enjoyed building a good relationship with the employers and in turn their apprentices who were being supported through their apprenticeship by the South West Skills Academy. Our strong relationships is an example of our fuss free approach to End-Point Assessment – we keep it simple and by doing that have establish lasting partnerships.

“We look forward to supporting more apprentices of South West Skills Academy to undertake their End-Point Assessment in the future.”
